🤤As we hold various food preferences, some choose a vegetarian diet while others cannot live without meat or rice. Now, you may have learned that meat is 🥩肉(Ròu) and vegetable is 🥬菜(Cài); however, when you want to say you are a vegetarian, rather than "我吃菜(Wǒ chī cài)“, Chinese will say "我吃素(Wǒ chī sù)“. Comparing to the word "素(sù),” we actually seldom use the word "荤(Hūn).” The reason being that since the majority of Chinese people take meats, there is nothing special to discuss. It is only really seen in high end restaurants since they sometimes name their dishes with meaningful sayings without disclosing the ingredients.🤯 Then, you have to look out for the word "荤(Hūn)”🥩 to know that it is actually a meat dish, or “素(sù)”🥬 for a vegetable dish..美食家系列měi shí jiā xì liè🥢🥢🥢- Foodie series -Introducing diversified Chinese delicacies, traditional and contemporary! 🍜🥟🍘🍚🥡 Bon appétit! 🤤...#elitelinguistic #elitechinesesg #foodie #vegan #一荤一素 #荤素 ... When was the last time you dined with your family? Some say that food brings the family together; childhood memories of home-cooked meals, family gatherings over fancy delicacies, are such moments just to name a few. Needless to say, food and family has the strongest bond. Introducing a song 一荤一素(yì hūn yī sù), which can be translated as "a meat dish and a vegetable dish". Chinese songwriter and singer, 毛不易(Máo bù yì), wrote and dedicated this song to his mother who passed away before he became famous. She served her post as a nurse and even when she was bed-ridden with sickness, she wondered about his work and nutrition. She asked his relatives to remind him to eat balanced meals with one meat and one vegetable dish (一荤一素yì hūn yī sù). Her last words then inspired him to compose this song, leaving a legacy.一荤一素(yì hūn yī sù)by 毛不易(Máo bù yì)Verse 1: rì chū yòu rì luò shēn chǔ zài shēn chǔ日出又日落 深处再深处The sun rises then sets, deep then deeperyī zhāng xiǎo fāng zhuō yǒu yī hūn yī sù一张小方桌 有一荤一素A small square table has one meat [and] one vegetable dishyī gè shēn yǐng cóng róng dè máng máng lù lù一个身影从容地忙忙碌碌A figure is busily hurrying aroundyī shuāng shǒu ràng zhè shí guāng yǒu lè wēn dù一双手让这时光有了温度A pair of hands lets this moment have warmthVerse 2:tài nián qīng dè rén tā zǒng shì bù mǎn zú太年轻的人 他总是不满足People that are too young, are never satisified gù zhí dè bù yuàn tíng xià yuǎn xíng dè jiǎo bù固执地不愿停下 远行的脚步Stubbornly unwilling to stop their footsteps [taking them] farther awaywàng zhè gāo gāo dè tiān zǒu lè cháng cháng dè lù望着高高的天走了长长的路Looking at the sky, walked a long roadwàng lè huí tóu kàn tā yǒu méi yǒu kū忘了回头看 她有没有哭Forgot to look back and see if she criedChorus:yuè ér míng fēng ér qīng月儿明 风儿轻The moon is bright, the breeze is lightkě shì nǐ zài qiāo dǎ wǒ dè chuāng líng可是你在敲打我的窗棂Is it you who's knocking on my window?tīng dào zhè ér nǐ jiù bié dān xīn听到这儿你就别担心After listening up to hear, don't worryqí shí wǒ guò dí hái kě yǐ其实我过的还可以I'm actually doing alrightyuè ér míng fēng ér qīng月儿明 风儿轻The moon is bright, the breeze is lightnǐ yòu kě zēng lái guò wǒ dí mèng lǐ你又可曾来过我的梦里Have you ever visited my dreams?yī dìng shì nǐ lái shí tài xiǎo xīn一定是你来时太小心It must be that you came too carefully [and quietly]zhī dào wǒ shuì dé qīng 知道我睡得轻knowing that I sleep lightly(Repeat Verse 2 and Chorus)yī dìng shì nǐ lái shí tài xiǎo xīn一定是你来时太小心It must be that you came too carefully [and quietly]pà wǒ zài xiǎng qǐ nǐ 怕我再想起你afraid that I would think of you againyoutu.be/sdRSzdUsGzU ... 🤨Did you wonder why we learned about 🐎驿站(Yì zhàn) in the last post? Yes, it paves the way for our topic today. 🥳驿站(Yìzhàn) still stands in China, but rather than for horses🐎, it's now for deliveries📦. China, with its enormous size, has many “maze-like” alleys without house numbers. It could cost a fortune and take forever and a day to deliver packages. To ensure everybody can receive correct packages in time, businesses set up various automated lockers as delivery collection points. The 快递驿站(Kuài dì yì zhàn), also known as, delivery logistic centre or courier station, provides collection and delivery services for the surrounding 1km. Customers can now conveniently pick up their own packages by scanning their 😉faces(!) (or QR codes). These 快递驿站(Kuài dì yì zhàn) helps to lower the economic cost and raise efficiency. 🚀We've shared a Jerry Kowal 我是郭杰瑞 Youtube video regarding 快递驿站 on our Facebook page.
